One of the most active sections of our club is our racing series. We have several series throughout the year.
With friendly members happy to explain how our racing works and give you tips and hints Durleigh is a fun place to have a go at racing even if you have never raced before. Dinghy racing is a really absorbing side of the activity, and after a while you may even win a trophy!
For the more experienced racer, the wind speed and direction can change radically even during races making Durleigh a very challenging water to master.
On average races run for 45 minutes, but may be shortened due to too high/low wind. Sundays are our main racing day, usually with 3 races throughout the day. Wednesday evening races start at 6:30 pm, sometimes finishing under a beautiful sunset. The main season is from late March to early December. Over the Winter our Icicle Racing Series is primarily for the dedicated racer but casual sailors are also welcome providing they also sign up for a duty, and runs every Sunday.
