Please confirm if you wish to be included in our list of members who are willing to cover another member’s duty for a fee. Some members are willing to pay someone else to do their duty. This is a private arrangement between members, but we can facilitate such swaps. For renewals, we will assume all full sailing members will be renewing their membership for the new season. Unless we hear, in writing, to the contrary you will be sent an allocation email from the Rota Secretary at the beginning of January giving you the option of selecting your duties for the season. This will be on a “first come – first served” basis and available for approximately one month. Please ensure you select the full amount of required duties as soon as possible.
To keep fees to a minimum, each full sailing member is required to do 4 duties a year. Sundays count as 2 duties and Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons are one duty. Family members are expected to do 8 duties each. However, non-sailing family members are exempt from duties, although you will be welcome if you choose to do so.
We do have a ‘duty opt out’ fee. If you wish to opt out completely, we will use the fee to pay someone else. In the event of a member not fulfilling their duty allocation, a charge equivalent to £23.50 per half-day duty will be payable. We appreciate there can be extenuating circumstances – please let us know as soon as possible.
The Icicle,Winter series and Wednesday pm series do not form part of the duty year as above, and those taking part will arrange the duties amongst themselves.
