WESSEX WATER RULES

Centre Members must comply with the rules set out by Wessex Water.

1. INVASIVE SPECIES

All craft and trailers brought onto the site must be disinfected before entering the water or being stored in the boat park.

2. DOGS

No dogs are allowed on site, with the exception of assistance dogs.

3. FISHING

When sailing is taking place, fishing is not allowed on the foreshore between the Race Hut and the dam.

4. USE OF DRONES

Drones may only be flown over the reservoir with the permission of Wessex Water

5. ACCESS TO RESERVOIR

a. Access to the reservoir is not permitted outside of the published opening hours.
b. Sailing can only take place when Safety Cover is available.
c. Paddling and swimming are forbidden in the reservoir except for the launching and retrieval of craft.

6. COMPLIANCE WITH POLICIES

All members must acquaint themselves with and comply with the Durleigh Sailing Centre Policies and Operating
Procedures.

7. SAFETY

a. All persons in or on the water or pontoon must wear appropriate personal buoyancy.
b. All safety boats must be in the command of an appropriately qualified member and follow the DSC safety boat
operating procedures.
c. All members must record any breakages, equipment failures or damage identified to any item of Centre property in
the Defects and Breakages Book in the club house.

8. CENTRE SAFETY EQUIPMENT

a. Public defibrillator – located outside the main entrance to Wessex Water Treatment site. Members should
acquaint themselves with its location.
b. Telephone – located beneath the First Aid cupboard between the two changing rooms – for emergency use only,
c. First Aid equipment – stored on the wall between the two changing rooms. An accident book for recording
significant injuries is provided in the centre. In addition, all such incidents should be brought to the attention of the
Centre Secretary.
d. Fire extinguishers – 1 at main entrance, 1 in Galley + fire Blanket, 1 in Gents changing room, 1 in Ladies
changing room
e. Recording an incident – A record of an incident or safety concern should be written in the Log Book kept in the
Centre, for the attention of the Safety Officer and the General Committee.

9. COMPULSORY THIRD PARTY INSURANCE

All members must insure all craft that are either kept on site and/or sailed on the reservoir for a sum not less than
£1,000,000 for any one incident. The Centre reserves the right to require evidence of insurance.

10. VISITORS

Full members may introduce visitors to the Centre to sail under their supervision on no more than three occasions per
year. This excludes individuals whose membership has been refused.
Visitors must be signed in the Visitor’s Book.

11. ADMISSION AND STORAGE OF BOATS

a. The minimum PY for dinghies sailing at Durleigh is 924 and the maximum length 16ft, unless an exception is
made by the General Committee. Only monohulls and non-foiling craft are to be sailed.
b. Dinghies and Windsurfers are allowed on site at the General Committee’s discretion.
c. Boat spaces are allocated by the Boat Park Manager.
d. All boats, trolleys, windsurfers and road trailers stored at the club must be clearly marked with the owner and boat
details at all times.
e. Members must to maintain their craft/trailer space and their share of the approach lanes.
f. All craft must be tied down securely.
g. Members resigning, or not renewing, membership must remove craft/trailers in their ownership from the dinghy
park by the end of their membership period.

12. MODEL YACHTS

Only the Radio Controlled Sailing Craft Classes stipulated in the Durleigh RC Sailing policy may be launched and
sailed.
